The Celtics’ formally announced the change via their Twitter, with quotes from both Ainge and Stevens. Ainge said the past 18 years have been a “thrill of a lifetime,” while Stevens was quoted saying that he is “excited to tackle this new role.” Stevens will help lead the search to find the next head coach of the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics travel to Brooklyn tonight with their season on the line. Brooklyn took a 3-1 series lead in Game 4, and the C’s hope to fight back tonight. Kemba Walker and Robert Williams remain unlikely to play in tonight’s game. Both are listed as doubtful on the Celtics’ injury report.

Boston was without Kemba Walker and Robert Williams, and with the Nets shooting 59.3% from deep on the game, the Celtics couldn’t keep up. Following the game, a fan in the crowd threw a water bottle at Kyrie Irving as he was exiting the floor and going down the tunnel. The fan was identified, arrested, and banned for life from TD Garden.

Alongside Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker, and Robert Williams both find themselves listed on tonight’s injury report. Walker is questionable while dealing with a bone bruise on his knee, while Williams is listed as doubtful due to a sprained ankle he suffered last game.

Jayson Tatum led the way with yet another 50-point performance, dominating the offensive side of the floor. Marcus Smart added 23 points, while Tristan Thompson put up a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

It was recently announced that fans will be allowed back at near full capacity at TD Garden starting on May 29. That will be just in time for Game 4, a Boston home game.

Boston put up a solid fight in the first half but ultimately crumbled in the final two quarters, losing 104-93. The real highlight of the game was big man Robert Williams. Williams set the franchise record for most blocks in a playoff game, recording nine on the night.

Danny Ainge joined Toucher and Rich this morning for his weekly interview and gave an update on the possibility that more fans could be allowed at TD Garden. Although the state of Massachusetts recently stated that all remaining COVID restrictions will be lifted on May 29th, Ainge said that the team has not yet been given the go-ahead by the NBA to allow full capacity at TD Garden yet.

Stevens said that Robert Williams will be a game-day decision tomorrow, but everyone else is ready to go. He was asked how the team can prepare for the challenges ahead with the Wizards game tomorrow night. The C’s were without many key players but had a couple of reserves step up to the plate. Tremont Waters and Luke Kornet both played huge parts in the win. Waters finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds, both career-highs. Meanwhile, Kornet filled up the stat sheet. He had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and four blocks for the game.

The Celtics welcomed the Heat to TD Garden for a rematch of Sunday’s game but ultimately lost again to Miami 129-121.
Miami had six players in double figures on the night, and the trio of Dragic, Robinson, and Herro combined for the majority of Miami’s three-point scoring, hitting 14 of 23 from range. Boston was led by Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, and Evan Fournier, combining for 13 of 26 from deep, and 89 of Boston’s 121 points.

The Celtics welcomed the Heat to TD Garden earlier today but did not get the result they wanted. A 79-point first half for Miami led them to a 130-126 win over Boston.

The Boston Celtics had a rare laugher over a depleted Orlando Magic squad winning 132-96. Kemba Walker tied a season-high with 32 points in his return from a four-game injury absence, Evan Fournier had 18 points in his first game back in Orlando since being traded.

The Celtics used three of their four draft picks on Thursday, trading a late first-rounder to Memphis for a pair of future seconds. They took Aaron Nesmith 14th overall.
Boston also drafted Payton Pritchard and Yam Madar later in the night.
Jayson Tatum cleared 30 points again, Boston's bench stepped up and the Celtics downed Philadelphia in Game 2, taking a 2-0 lead on the 76ers in Round 1.
Toronto went ahead 2-0 on Brooklyn, as the Raptors and Celtics appear headed for a Round 2 collision.
